A high quality, diverse landscape with a mosaic of wet and mesic flatwoods, depression marshes, and dome swamps. This area includes habitat used by the federally Endangered snail kite, wood stork, and Florida panther.

Primarily estuarine habitats including mangroves, salt marshes, estuarine bay and associated mudflats, oyster bars, and seagrass beds. Some areas of freshwater marsh, cypress swamps, coastal strand, scrub, pine flatwoods and cabbage palm/oak hammock.

Hydric hammock and mixed hardwood swamp, on western end of Lake Jesup. Has one of the world's largest known living cypress trees.

Encompasses large expanses of mangrove forest, freshwater marshlands, and open water. Concentrations of migratory and resident wading birds, shorebirds, and nesting loggerhead. Manatees year-round. Waters are popular for recreational fishing.
